The institution will be able to see what you hold with them.

If they run a credit reference search if you want a facility, then they will be able to see everything, phone contracts, car finance, payment history, how long you have had credit, mortgages, store cards and any other finance products that you hold with any institutions.

Premium bonds don't show.

From Experian, what is usually visible on your credit file:

Things like your mortgage, credit cards, overdrafts, loans, mobile phone contract, and even utilities such as gas, electricity and water.

Also visible is electoral roll info, fraud indicators (cifas), ccjs, defaults, previous credit searches, any lined addresses and financial associations and/or aliases.

Yep, I work in a government finance department and we use use Experian, equifax and Call Credit agencies to check on people's bank accounts and insurance policies etc. It's surprising how many forget one or two of their accounts. The searches also show others in the household and connections such as joint mortgage, joint accounts and names on household bills.

The individual institutions can see all of a customers accounts.

Each credit file company has different rules, I have got reports from them all and not all bank and savings accounts show on them. They usually show current accounts and accounts with overdraft/credit facilities but not savings accounts.

You can sign up to get a free update on your credit report on moneysavingexpert. It’s quite surprising what shows on there. It’s usually a month or so out of date but a good way to ensure no accounts have been opened in your name by fraudsters.

@Lavendersquare

Bonds too?

Flynn999 · 12/04/2020 18:02

@Bringringbring12 call credit and equifax wouldn't show bonds, normally stuff like bank account, phone contracts, high street accounts etc. (I use them at work)
