How to finance conservatory

creambunnie · 10/09/2007 22:21

We would like to add a conservatory to our house - would you recommend a cheap loan or adding it to our mortgage? Would be more manageable (at this current time) to have it added to our mortgage I think. However, any appreciated.

Also any ideas on how to plan/design it?? or should I ask for this on another thread?

Thanks everyone x

we added ours to our mortgage as it was easier to manage finacially. Depends on what you are going to pay for it r/e design however our company that did it were really helpful with this have you thought of anyone yet or got any quotes ?
I would always try and get personal reccomendation and at least 3 quotes to start with.

Oh I will watch will interest we are adding a conservatory and are off to the back tomorrow to look at adding it to the mortgage.

The finance depends on your circumstances.
Adding to the mortgage seems the cheapest option, but remember that if your mortgage is going on for 20 yrs or so, you will be paying interest over all that time. That adds up to a lot of money over the years.

We have just had this debate about double glazing. We got a personal loan from Northern Rock, which has reasonable rate, and allows overpayment/repayment of loan without penalty charges. I've taken the loan over 3 yrs, intending to overpay a bit each month to clear it in 2.

Whatever you do, don't take finance from the conservatory people, it's bound to be more expensive.

Do you mind me asking what company you used? I would like it extended from kitchen as a dining and relaxing area.

Any good websites re designs or layouts or furniture??

Going to add it to mortgage too.

Thanks for your help x

We used Protechdirect.www.protechdirect.co.uk/

They were very reasonable. 3 of my friends have used them too. They are all happy with theirs.

They deliver it and you either build it yourself ( we did) or get in some builders.

We love ours. Its our playroom. Has double doors leading onto the garden.

thanks princessm - which one did you opt for? I would like to have dining area and relaxing area with sofa/tv.
