Just a quick question. I currently claim working tax and child tax credit. With everything going on, schools closing, I think I am going to have to take a couple of month unpaid leave, leaving me with £0 wages. Would I be able to claim anything just for a couple of months, obviously no one knows how long this is going to go on for

Universal credit, but not till you’ve had your last pay packet
Local council tax reduction- do that ASAP

Most claims are done online

I really hope you have not made a UC claim unless you need help with housing costs.

Once you do your tax credits stop and there is no going back.

If you have paid enough NI and worked for the last 2/3 years you could claim New Style JSA which would mean you keep your tax credits.

You would lose working tax credits if not meeting the hours requirements but I think there is a four week run on. So if you can manage just on the child tax credits for the couple of months you'll be off then it may be advisable to try to do that.

Tax credit advice I read was 8 weeks of less /no hours and the claim will still stand.
To be reassessed after June..

Even if WTAX stops as long as you still claim CTAX then when you start work again you can claim WTAC as it's not s new claim just a change of circs.
However PP are correct while this is all happening WTAX will not stop even if hours are reduce or stop.
