Apartment fire, no insurance but minimal damage

Hi
Just had a kitchen fire on my stove top in my apartment. How much would one have to pay in damages to the apartment company if the damage is minimal ie corner or stove top burnt but not deep burn. Replace 2 fire extinguishers and to replace two 'in case of fire box panels'? And how much would it cost with insurance? New to the adult life so any information would be appreciated.

Totally up to your apartment company - they can basically do what they like when setting up the rules.

@SpoonBlender they said we will have to cover those costs or make a claim with insurance it's up to us. They also said they'll try negotiating prices with the technician who'll have a look at the stove etc. But on average what would the cost be if we paid vs insurance

There is no average, it's totally case by case, and indeed technician/repair shop quote by quote.

The most important figure is your excess on whichever insurance policy you may be claiming on? If the quote comes in higher than that, go insurance. If not, pay up directly.

One thing about insurance, excess aside, once you've made a claim your premiums go up. So even if I had insurance, I'd think very carefully about whether to claim on it.

All you can do is get the costs in. Glad it wasn't more terrible for you Flowers

If you’re in a condo apartment then the policy that insures the building has first call. Find out what the deductible is, as the cost of repair might be less. If the fire was your fault the. There’s probably a clause in the bylaws to recoup any money the condo Corp has to pay out.
Is the stove the original? Are you owning or renting?
