Can you be a bit clearer?
You’ve said that HSBC has agreed to give your son a mortgage with the deeds in both your names. So what are you asking “is it possible” about?

ArriettyJones · 05/03/2020 23:55

You mean the RTB rules? Quick google says he will need to have lived with you for at least a year before he qualifies as a joint applicant,

I take it he lives with you and is not married, and the house will not have to be sold if he was married and got divorced

TheQueef · 06/03/2020 00:05

Is he on the tenancy as living there?

I bought my home through RTB with my DS last year - it was a tenancy in my sole name and he was an additional family member. We'd lived there together for the past 17 years and he had to provide various proof of address like bank statements, to cover the previous 12 months, to show he'd been living there. We also had to visit the council offices with our passports to prove our identities. They weren't interested in whether he was married or on the tenancy. Quite a lot of paperwork but otherwise it went pretty smoothly. We did appeal against the council's valuation, which slowed down the process a little, but it knocked a decent amount off the price.

We didn't need a mortgage so not sure about that side of things. If the bank has agreed to it then I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.
