So sorry for the long post just after a bit of advice.
Basically we have been approved in principal with nationwide, they now have our full application , there are aware I have a default and said not to worry about it but they also have asked for 3 months bank statements .. due to my own silliness I have used pay at the pump twiceover the space of 2 months and the payments has come out a day before my money goes in sending me into an un arranged overdraft and a pre notified fee charged also I was in dispute with a gym and asked for the direct debit date to be changed and they couldn’t so this sent me over drawn for 1 day also with a charge attached! Does anyone have an idea if this will really effect are application? My partner has excellent credit score and history with no missed payments at all .

Any help would be really appreciated 🤗

You may come across as unreliable or disorganised, but I would think that the default would affect your application more than dipping into your overdraft.

How long ago did you default, and on how much?

frangracie125 · 05/02/2020 15:47

default was registered 2018 but was paid off 2019 the default was for £105 it was for a catalogue that was at an old address soon as the letters were forwarded I paid it off. nationwides business manager has said they are aware of the default and not to worry and proceed with application.
But after the silly mistakes on my statements now im worried.

I had a default in my account which was due to fall off a couple of months after the mortgage application. I was advised to apply for the mortgage just in my partners name which we had to do. I'd be surprised if you get approved with a default tbh. Good luck though.

Im not too worried about the default as my mortgage advisor has had it assessed by the lender its more the bank statements im panicking about.

sorry forgot to add are mortgage advisor has told me we have passed the credit check which leads me to believe the default is dealt with so now they will see my bank statement issue. :(

It depends on how much you're wanting to borrow in relation to earnings and outgoings - if you're right at your limit it may tip you over to the mortgage being unaffordable.

My DH is a mortgage advisor and they do look closely at spending patterns etc. Just speak to your advisor about it rather than send them and crossing your fingers. They may be able to refer to underwriters with your explanation, they may suggest leaving you off the mortgage- but they will know how to handle it for you under your individual circumstances.

thanks for the replies really appreciate them!! the affordability has been done with the lender so think that will be ok , ive sent it all to my broker and she is going to attach an explanation so fingers crossed!!

Hi!

I have just gone through getting a mortgage and my bank statements would of looked exactly the same as my issue was I keep everything in a savings acc and transfer as and when nationwide text me stating how much is due out the next day and it was down for a week so I was in I arranged overdraft. They picked up on it and all they said was why did this happen and what has changed so it won't happen going forward. I explained and it was all fine and we get the keys next week! So just explain and it should al be fine xx
