New debit card, but different long number. Is this routine?

Just that, really. My old card is about to expire and I've been sent a new one - all to be expected. Except it has a different long number on the front (apart from starting with the same 4 digits as the old one) and different security digits on the back. The account number and sort code all match up OK, though.

I can't can't now decide whether this is normal - does anyone know?

Yes, each card has a unique number.

From what I remember yes

Yes, new cards all have a new number. The account no and sort code stay the same. You’ll have to update all of your accounts. Thankfully it’s just once every few years

Yes, that's normal. Debit cards will have a different long number each time you get a new card. Credit cards always have the same number.

Elbeagle · 02/02/2020 13:37

The long number is the card number. It’s a different card, so it’s a different number. Completely standard.

Yes this is normal. The long number and code on the back are unique to each card not each account.

OK, thanks all! I'm not going mad, then Grin

Yes. It's the number for that card. So each card has a different number.
