Hi all

New poster here looking for some advice.

I currently earn £40k per year, my corporate job is making me utterly miserable which has resulted in me having a complete mental breakdown, I just cant do it anymore.

I'm looking for a more fulfilling role outside of corporate life without a commute.

I have run our income scenarios via entitledto and we would be entitled to some UC to help prop our income up which is fine.

My question is

I have read that the actual UC calculation factor in the previous years earnings rather than current earning (assuming I get the new job with far lower salary)? Which would wipe out the UC entitlement dispute the reduced earnings

Or again assuming I have the lower salaried job, does the UC entitlement start based on that salary and continue going forward?

Thanks in advance!

You won't get anything if you leave voluntarily OP. You need to speak to a doctor and get signed off for now...

Going from earning £40k in a corporate (executive?) career to earning so little that you're reliant on UC seems to be going from one extreme to the other?

Surely there are other jobs out there which are a bit less well paid but would come without the pressures and stresses of your current very highly paid role?

Meaning you could have the quality of life you've decided you want whilst still earning enough to support yourself financially and not having to rely on the taxpayer to fund your lifestyle choice?

UC is based on current earnings or the wages you get at the time of applying for UC and each subsequent pay period.
Past earnings are irrelevant unless you amassed savings over £6,000.
