Hi all just after some advice.

I've had my uc claim closed as I'm earning too much. When I've checked, the amount my employer is reporting is about £500 more than what I'm receiving and what's on my payslip.

I rang uc to let them know this is wrong but they're saying it's because it depends on when my employer notifies them of my earnings. Does this sound right?
By that logic I will never be entitled to uc even though I am not earning as much as they think month to month.

Hope that makes sense sorry if it's a bit muddled I'm not entirely sure on it all myself Confused

Should have added I work part time and am a single parent if that makes a difference.

Are you paid monthly? If so, I would have thought your employer reports earnings once during an assessment period, likely around your wage paydays.
If you can, call UC (and also write in your journal and screenshot) about the errors (again) and request to upload ALL relevant payslips. Also, check with HRMC to confirm the amounts your employer is reporting. This can be done through your Personal Tax Account.

Yes that's correct. If for example your employer pays you early for Christmas they should report it as the normal day it should have been paid rather than the earlier date so that it does not mess up your claim. How often are you paid normally ? If you are paid four weekly there will be one monthly Uc assessment period in the year when two pay days will fall in your assessment period. Could that be what has happened?

Thanks for the replies. I get paid on the 27th every month. I will check HMRC thanks for the link didn't know you could do that.
It's all very confusing.. to me at least Blush

Currently I'm paying out more than I'm getting in which is what's stressing me out. I'm trying to keep on top of it all but it's just a nightmare!

@Lifeisabeach09 have just checked my tax account and it turns out that I'm down as having two employers- never heard of one of them in my life and they're earning considerably more than me so that's another thing to sort out now Angry

Would this affect my uc does anyone know?

@bluebunny123
Yes, it likely would affect your UC. HMRC will be giving UC this same information.
It could be what is fucking up your UC.
Does your monthly earnings in your tax account match your UC statements?

bluebunny123 · 26/01/2020 10:41

@Lifeisabeach09 for my actual job it doesn't match what is on my payslip. Not sure how they work it out but to me it doesn't look right. I'm going to ring payroll on Monday morning and tell them all about this mess Hmm

You said you had two current jobs (one you don't know about it) listed in your tax account. Is there monthly earnings listed from this other job? If there is, HMRC will take the monthly earnings from both jobs and give it to UC.
I'm wondering if someone is using your NI number for their job.

bluebunny123 · 26/01/2020 15:24

@Lifeisabeach09 it shows what the taxable income is for that job per month and what they've earnt monthly by the look of it
Having never looked at it before I'm only going off what I can see from my actual employer if that makes sense
It does seem like one big fuck up to me but until I speak to payroll and figure out whether it's them or not I won't know
I did think someone may be using my NI number also Confused

Hope you get it sorted, OP.
