Health Cash Plans? Any experience?

I'm looking at health cash plans as last time I saw dentist he said I'd need a crown replaced in the next 6 to 12 months and it's about £300 to get it done so I was looking to try and spread the cost a bit. Saw some health cash plans from simply health and sovereign health and they seem good. For £20 to £30 per month I can claim back about £120 to £150 dentist per year plus I have 4 chiropractic appointments at about £170 per year plus other bits and chiropractic for my daughter. It looks like I can get more back than I pay out and will help spread the cost. I'd appreciate any recent feedback on these. Thanks.

I’ve been with one for years. I’d say I usually get back more than I paid out! I got a large amount when I was admitted, dental work, operations..it’s been worth me having it.

thanks, can i ask who you are with please? It looks like i'd make good use of it and possibly get some other things that i wouldn't normally be able to afford, such as regular chiropody/podiatry and booking in for the dentist won't be so scary!

With just regularly claiming dentistry and wellbeing massage I'd say I probably make a small loss every other year, but years where I've needed new glasses or physio/chiropractic it's been worthwhile and made up for the years when there's been a loss. I'm confident I'd not lose money on it at all if I were organised enough to book some (definitely of benefit) chiropody etc.

You do need to regularly check that your health provider meets the plan provider's requirements for qualifications/membership of specialism groups etc as these can change and they you won't get paid... e.g. my massage therapist was paid out for 6+ years, then she changed her supporting membership and I can no longer claim for her because she doesn't have the 'right' letters attached to her!

I use Healthshield. I'd say it's worthwhile if you're organised enough to use it effectively.

Great, thanks. I'm pretty organised so i'm sure i could maximize the benefits.

I’m with Birmingham Hospital Saturday Fund, my Mum used to work for a Birmingham hospital and suggested I sign up.

Thanks all. Simply Health are looking ok as they pay up straight away and give good cover for the areas i'm looking at with no issues for pre existing conditions.
