Claiming losses through official receiver - anyone done it?

We lost money on a holiday we had booked in the Thomas Cook collapse. We have been refunded the money we paid for our holiday.

A complicating factor is that the holiday was part-paid by compensation which we had been awarded under EU rules for a previous flight delay with Thomas Cook. We had the choice of 350 euros per person cash, or £450 per person in Thomas Cook "credit". We never really had the compensation, it was just deducted directly by TC from the holiday cost.

Anyway. We have been told that as this is money which was never really ours, it's not covered on the ATOL scheme and we have to go through the Official Receiver to claim the £2250 back from them.

Is it worth it? The form is only a one pager but is definitely not member of the public friendly, and the receiver have basically said they will not be discussing claims at all. It's going to take months, if not years to wind up the company, and unsecured creditors stand to get very little.

Obviously I wish now we'd taken the cash. But am I wasting my time filling in the form?

Not its just one page. I had some insurance and the company went bust and I got 2 cheques for bauble pounds from the official receivers. Sonething is better than nothing.

By all means submit your proof of debt. Just don't expect anything and treat it as a bonus if you do.
