Ok, here is the list so far....

Gas
Electric
Water
Tv,Phone,Internet
Loan
Provident
Credit Card
Cooker
Washing machine
Trust fund
Next Ccj
Tv Licence
Food
Travel
Brownies

I'm sure there is something major missing somewhere. I don't pay rent or council tax at the mo so it's not that.

For travel I have only budgeted for 2 day tickets, as if i think about what i need before i go out then i should only need to go into town twice a week at most.

only £5??

How many kids do you have again? I know with the 4 of us using milk (DS3 doesn't count yet lol) we go through quite a lot and I certainly spend more than £5 a week buying extra milk and bread.......oh and those chocolate bars soon add up too

nutcracker · 24/08/2007 16:42

3 kids and me. I order two 6 pinters with my shopping and then probably buy 2 more. In term time we don't use much bread as the kids have school dinners.

The problem now, is making the switch to doing it all weekly.

Haven't budgeted for clothes at all, as I try not to buy any if I can help it lol.

nutcracker · 24/08/2007 16:44

Ok, good With Tescos you can often get the 1000 pointers which you can then sell on ebay for 15-20 quid when they come thru. Just a thought.
And do that a few times and you would have 1 or 2 weeks a quarters shopping free

nutcracker · 24/08/2007 16:48

Try as I might CC, I just don't get the tesco points thing, it all seems way too complicated to me lol.

Gigolos?
Crack?
Hitmen?

Seriously though, why don't you keep a financial diary - write down all your outgoings and income on a daily basis, then analyse after a week/month. And by everything, I mean everything from 5p you found on the pavement to 2p you lost down the back of the sofa.

charliecat · 24/08/2007 16:49

LOL, copy and paste code. Sit back, tescos send you them every 3 months. Pop them on ebay, someone fills your paypal account with money and you sent them on Sorted.

I need to sort something out about my phone/internet/tv package too. It is with Virgin and have no complaints but the phone is only free at certain times and want it free al of the time. I am only supposed to pay £30 for all 3 services, but end up paying about £45 with calls on top.

nutcracker · 24/08/2007 16:51

Gigolos, do I have enough left for one of those then ??

OP posts:
nutcracker · 24/08/2007 16:52

I did look into it the other week CC, but got confused very quickly.

OP posts:
nutcracker · 24/08/2007 17:10

Right ok, I think I have figured it all out.

I get paid twice a week, Wed and Sat, so have figured out what to pay on which day each week and how much I will have left over from it, which is a bit scary conisdering I haven't factored in clothing or b'days and xmas, but thats what is left so until I get a job, it's tough.

The thing is though, for the next few weeks I am going to have to pay out more, to get myself into the black in order to switch everything to weekly if that makes any sense at all.

I could also do with setting up an additional bank account to move money into that i will be putting up weekly but only paying out on monthly, can I do that ?

How about an old fashioned pot system?

get as many pots as you do seperate outgoings, and write on each one the bill and the input required per week to pay it.

So, eg you will have one pot, written on it would be "Phone bill, £12.50 pw"

And all the rest, then every week you put the right amounts into each pot, and the rest you can spend.

nutcracker · 24/08/2007 17:44

Some of them are dd's though which would mean me having to remember to go back into town to pay the money back in, in time for the dd to go out.
