Bank card that avoids foreign conversion fees?

Hi,

I have a sizeable payment to make soon (visa application fees) and have heard that there's certain cards you can use which don't have extra fees pilled on from them converting your £ to $ and back again (which they apparently do).

Monzo is one of them. I'm terrible with money and nervous about the whole visa process anyway because it's so bloody confusing and stressful but if there's a simple way to avoid them fleecing me for more money I'd like to try it.

I think I'm going to have to call my bank to make sure they don't block my debit card anyway but if I can avoid extra fees by putting the cash into a different account that would be good.

Any advice?

Thanks

Revolut is a bank now - all covered if things go pear shaped. It also does a great disposable card you can use for online purchases which is renewed after every transaction - no rush of card details being nicked and used again.

Disposable virtual card - not a plastic one Smile

I want to add the large-ish sum of money to my revolut card, do I do this by selecting my regular bank's number and adding the amount I want to add, like I did to set it up?

I have the "virtual" bank card but the numbers are all blanked out apart from the last 4, not sure why I can't see them?

Thanks.

Hi

To add money to revolut you do it from the revolut app. Just press the plus sign to add money from your linked bank account.

To see the card numbers press the card and you'll get an option to show card details. You will then have to reauthenticate (I just use fingerprint) to see the card number, exp date etc.

Great, thank you! Does it take some time to transfer money into/out of the account do you know?

I saw 3 days quoted somewhere and that made me nervous as this is an important payment.
