How do you move house and job?

Hi,

Im looking for some advice and experiences.

Dh and I are looking at moving to be closer to my parents in the next couple of years and I want to get my ducks in a row as it's the first time we will have moved since buying our first place.

So, Dh would be moving to a new job and we'd like to buy a house as opposed to selling and going into rented, DH says though that we wouldn't get a mortgage as he wouldn't have been in the job for 3mnths. Is this right??

How do people do it??

Many thanks

It is tough, we did it about 3 years ago. Luckily dh is a tea her so he got a job agreement in April to start in Sept so we could sell and move. We agreed with my parents that if the house didn't sell in time he would stay with them during the week.

It was expensive, a lot of trips up and down the A1! . We did consider renting if needed but the idea of moving into rented followed by another move in a few months didn't sound appealing.

The mortgage issue will really depend on the lender, if you had a mortgage before.

Sorry pressed too soon. It will vary lender to lender and whether or not you have good credit, history of bad debts etc.

Thanks both.
We have a mortgage currently and will remortgage next year as the fixed term expires.
Both have spot on credit and will have a fair bit of equity for a deposit.
DH mentioned possibly transferring the mortgage?

Depending on the type of mortgage you can port it. We did the same as you a couple of years ago but did go into rented to make it smoother and because houses don’t come up often where we moved to.
