Brexit, should I change euros now?!

Hi. I’m from London no idea what’s happening with brexit but I have a bunch of euros, should I exchange it to pounds now or wait till after the 31st ?

We are not leaving on the 31st most likely, because parliament are doing everything they can to stop it. Doubt, anyway, it will make a huge amount of difference. If you aren't strapped for cash - just keep them. See what happens.

@outoutbriefcandle Thankyou

If you think you might visit an EU country in the future they might be more valuable as Euros to take with you then!

barnun · 22/10/2019 22:50

How many euros are we talking about?

Do you potentially have any trips to the EU27 coming up in the next, say, 2 years?

Or are you perhaps just back from a trip?

LemonMousse · 22/10/2019 23:21

Keep them for future holidays. Even if we leave the EU we will still be allowed 'out' now and then and chopping and changing between euro and sterling will be counter productive 👍

ChickenyChick · 22/10/2019 23:24

Keep the Euros , pounds will get cheaper after Brexit crisis

GiantKitten · 22/10/2019 23:24

We’ve always kept any euros we had left at the end of holidays. It’s really useful to have some on hand on arrival next trip Smile

@elohiasdoge @barnun @lemonmoussr @giantkitten I think everyone is getting my questions mixed up. I don’t plan on visiting Europe anytime soon at all, I want to change my euros into pounds and keep it. But I’m wondering if euros will get much cheaper and i’ll Be left with less money or if pounds will get cheaper and i’ll End up with more money from the exchange rate. Thank you

But how much money are we talking about?

BarbaraofSeville · 23/10/2019 04:37

No-one knows the answer to your question about what is happening with Brexit and how it will affect the exchange rate but if you are not planning on travelling to Europe in the next few months and want the money then the best thing to do will be ask friends, family or colleagues if anyone wants to buy them off you for the official exchange rate

www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1&From=GBP&To=EUR

You get a better rate than if you changed them at the post office or wherever and they also get the best possible rate too.

Otherwise just exchange them at wherever is most convenient unless the amount is hundreds or more, the difference is only likely to be a couple of quid so the costs of travelling to whichever bank etc does the best rate is likely to outweigh the better exchange rate.
