Maternity and Tax Credits/ Housing Veggies

Could someone please clarify what happens to benefits whilst you're on Maternity leave please?

I currently work and get tax credits ( child element and working tax element) and housing benefit.

I understand that I'll get 90% of current pay for 6 weeks, then be on £149 a week for 33 weeks.

I assume that once I tell tax credits they'll adjust my income for those 33 weeks, but then the guidance says that after 39 weeks I'll be regarded as not working, because I'll have no income. What will happen to tax credits and housing benefit then?

I was hoping to take the full 52 weeks with my baby, but does the set up mean I'll actually have to go back after 39 weeks?

Im single and will get some maintenance but not enough to even cover my rent let alone food and bills.

Any advice gratefully received

You would lose working tax credits after 39 weeks because you are no.longer classed as employed. You can choose to manage without them for 3 months or go back to work or switch to Universal credit.

Thanks @babyroobs assume I'd still get the child element of tax credits? Seems strange that job is kept open, I retain employment and 52 weeks maternity offered as perk, yet benefits don't last. I would never voluntarily switch to UC though. Heard way too much bad stuff about it.
