Probate application form

Is there anyone who has completed such a form in fairly recent times?
I'm far from stupid but my mind goes blank when trying to tackle the form, I keep putting it off but would like to send it this week if possible. I know there are instructions enclosed. I think probably I feel like this because I'm bereaved and still in shock. I don't want to ask anyone in real life for fear of being thought stupid.

If anyone can help me, please say and I'll add a post with questions.

Many thanks.

I completed a probate application but was 4 years ago. I can’t imagine it’s changed much I’ll help if I can.
To be honest as you say it’s difficult because you are grieving and you feel as though it’s a job you shouldn’t even be doing.
The best advice I can give is to be methodical. Have all your information to hand. I had a few copies of the form so if I messed up I could do it again.
As I went along I made a list of anything I needed to double check or any things I wasn’t sure of.
There is a probate helpline within the pack and they were extremely helpful and understanding. I found sometimes I’d get upset on the phone when talking things through but they were very patient. Doesn’t matter if you ring them once or a hundred times.
You will need documents to be witnessed. If you’re not near a local probate officer most solicitors will do this for you. This was what we did. It cost £5 and took 5 minutes.
When all the documents were sent off we were granted probate within about a fortnight. Was a reasonable straightforward estate but did include a property and various savings accounts and policies.
Best wishes to you, be kind to yourself. Once you get started you’ll probably find it’s not as bad as you imagine. But if you sit with it for an hour and you’ve had enough then leave it for another day. I think you have a fair bit of time to get it done.
I found all the phone calls emotionally draining and just sorting through documents that I felt I had no right to be doing as to me it was somebody else’s personal information.

I helped my mum apply for probate in March. I think we used a video that talked you through the form. I'll see if I can find it.

Sorry. I think the video was how to fill in a land registry form to transfer title of the house to my mum's name.

Money Saving Expert say you can call HMRC and they will help you. The numbers are here.

Do it online as the various booklets stumped me! The online version is really easy.

Thank you all.

I did one recently, did it online and found it really easy - it takes you through step by step.
