I’ve tried that, unfortunately it’s not working properly
At the minute I have 1 child will have 2 soon
I’m under 25
I’m single
I’ll receive smp from work
My full entitlement from UC before deductions is £750 a month but with me working 24 hours a week I only get 300 UC a month I was just wondering what happens when I go on maternity leave that’s all as to what I will receive thank you x

SMP is treated exactly the same way as wages, so if it's less than your wages you'll have less deductions. If you get a work allowance ( I assume you do as you have a child) then that still applies as if you were working.

Aw that’s great to know, I usually get 800 in my wage every months and UC top up by £350
Obviously maternity pay I’ll get 600ish a month so they will give me more universal credit to make it up? It’s so confusing well to me Shock

Also what is a work allowance I don’t think I have this?

ListenLinda · 02/09/2019 19:49

The work allowance is how much you are allowed to earn before your start getting deductions.

Hi I’ve separated from my husband of 20 years we have two beautiful children one of which is disabled I’m still living in our family home and he has moved out, I currently work and have received my 1st universal credit to help me (which has a lot) it’s so scary but I know I can do this they have recently asked me for my husband previous 12 months earnings which he has questioned I’m not sure why they have asked can any one help

Babyroobs · 02/09/2019 22:40

Ittoim - They ask about previous earnings to establish whether you are exempt from the benefit cap. It's a standard question.
