Mortgages when self employed limited company

Hi there

We are at the very early stages of wanting to sell our house and buy another and extend our borrowing on our mortgage.

Our current provider, Coventry (who we seem to be stuck with due to a big penalty if we leave them) seems to be really difficult to deal with if you are self employed limited company which my husband is.

I am employed full time.

My husbands earnings are more than mine but for some reason (much beyond my intelligence) Coventry base it on much less.

Can anyone recommend a broker who specialises in obtaining mortgages in these situations please?

Thanks in advance

A mortgage company will look at either the salary plus dividends or retained profit.

Coventry have always been clued up for us so it could be that you have an accountant problem. Do you know which figures Coventry are looking at?

Annoyingly we increased DH's dividends (ending up with a huge personal tax bill) but ended up getting a mortgage on retained profit.

I think the mortgage market has shifted in the past couple of years, our first mortgage was definitely easier and we had a lower LTV and deposit then too.

3 years of accountant verified accounts
3 years of HMRC self assessment submission

Natwest.

Agreed TiredOldTable, that’s what we had to provide, also NatWest.
