PPI deadline: How do you find out which companies you borrowed from?

I've avoided the whole PPI thing because I never actively got it, but I'm aware that there is loads of it which was hidden so I guess with the deadline coming up I ought to investigate.

Only thing is, I haven't got the faintest idea who I borrowed from and when. I remember doing interest free deals on lots of things like sofas, fridges, washing machines etc., but I don't know who the finance companies were and as they were well over 20 years ago, the paperwork went years ago.

I tried Martin Lewis MSE credit club and downloaded my credit report, but it doesn't tell me anything, just what my current credit situation is and how much I've got in credit balances, nothing useful. What I really need is my credit history - who I borrowed from and when. Is there a way of getting that?

The only way you can do that is by contacting every possible lender.

There's no claims company that will have that information either.

OK I thought that might be the case.

That's why I've not got round to doing it...

I'm in same situation. Can't remember who, what or when. Although I've just found Mothercare credit card I used when DC little which has PPi on it, so I'm going to try that one. But who else, I just can't remember! Need to get proactive as deadline looming.

It just never crossed my mind to keep old credit card deals....

Resolver have a form on their website, I think.it is called a 'PPI checker form' It takes about 30 seconds to fill in, copy and paste your previous addresses ready for the next form.

You have to do a new form for each company you want checked. Its really really quick.

Have a look on Resolver website.

They do not take any commision, Martin Lewis recommends them.

The deadline is next week.

FCA has links to different claim websites - just filed cc and storecard enquiries. Took just a few minutes each.
