Do you work for DWP? Could you help me understand what will happen next with my UC payment?

Hello,

I have been claiming UC since last year. It has been pretty much smooth sailing until today. My employer has failed to report my earnings. When I checked my online account this morning, it said I would be getting £2075 in 7 days' time instead of £1400, which is what I got last month. I realised that there was no mention of my earnings so I called DWP straight away. The guy I spoke to on the phone said that if two lots of income are reported for the next assessment period, I would have to bring in my payslips to the jobcentre and they would start some kind of earnings dispute. This has stressed me out so much. Could someone please reassure me that this will be rectified and in the end I will receive the money I am entitled to?

Hi there I don't work for them but just wanted to suggest you join the page "tax credits survival" on Facebook - they are very knowledgeable about all things UC.
Good luck! I'm about to claim and I'm dreading it!

I don't work for the DWP but if 2 pay days fall in your assessment period then it will significantly reduce the amount of Uc you get paid. Are you paid four weekly or has your employer reported your earnings to HMRC late?

Sorry just realised you are getting more Uc then normal so it sounds like no wages have been reported in your assessment period ?

Yeah, my employer has failed to report my earnings so this means they will probably report two lots in the next assessment period.
To answer the other question - I get paid monthly, on the same date which falls more or less in the middle of my assessment period.
I'm so annoyed that this has happened,I've always done everything by the book. I really don't need this now...

Did you wages hit your bank account in the assessment period as normal? When you actually got paid is the important bit. You can challenge the decision not to include your wages and take along your bank statement as proof and keep an eye on next month. It means you'll have an overpayment this month unfortunately.
