Universal credit and working - help!

So I get universal credit now. The day I get paid (4th of each month) I put all the money for my bills away in a separate account.

Universal credit pay me depending on how much I earn between 29th - 28th. (Eg 29th June - 28th July)

I’m starting a new job and I will get paid the last Friday of each month. So this means sometimes I would be paid twice between the universal credit time period, and sometimes none.

I suppose I’m just a little confused how I will manage my money and just need some help or advice :( anyone else have the same?
I really like to have all my money for bills in a separate account as soon as I’m paid, even if the bill isn’t due to be paid for another 3+ weeks. Just worried I won’t be able to work out how I will do this now???

If any of this makes sense???? I’m just about confused!!

You need to plot your UC assessment periods and your pay days on a calender to work out in which months your Uc will be severely reduced due to two pay days falling in the assessment period. Then you can prepare and plan ahead. On the months where no pay day falls in your assessment period you will get more Uc but you will lose your work allowance ( assuming you get this) as it will look to them like you haven't worked. Unfortunately your pay day falling so close to your assessment period dates is really going to mess things up.

Can you ask to have your assessment period shifted? It sounds like a bit of a nightmare otherwise.

(That's a genuine question about UC rules, btw, I don't know if it's possible)

I’ll definitely speak to them and ask if changing the assessment period is possible, or if there is any other way around this as it does seem like it will really just mess things around!
Thanks guys Smile

I really don't think it's possible to move assessment period dates without closing the claim and starting again.
