Remortgaging before or after brexit

We've been on a fixed term mortgage for two years. We can start sorting out a new deal from September. So do we do this before or after brexit?

If you start looking before Brexit you can often book a deal without committing or paying any arrangement fees. You can then look again post Brexit and either take the original deal, or swap to a better one if available.

It's very unlikely that interest rates will go any lower, irrespective of what happens with Brexit. Therefore I'd look for a new deal as soon as you're able.

We did it last year before the March deadline. I was concerned about interest rates going up in the event of a no deal. I know the Bank of England has said they may cut interest rates if no deal Brexit happens but I wouldn't rely on it. We pay £50 less per month since remortgaging so it's been good for us.

First direct do good 5 year fixes, I'd book one now as pp said and get the rate.

Pound tanking people saying inflation could be problem

I just come on here to ask a very similar question. Nationwide do a 5 and 10 year mortgage, I feel 5 may not be long enough but 10 feels like a long time!

@BarbaraofSeville thank you. I didn't know you could do that

@Fragalino thank you. I'll have a look at them.

@Dontlickthetrolley I'd do five but wouldn't do ten. But that's just me
