Have I got PPI?

Have seen these sorts of adverts for years and ignored them, thinking it's probably nothing if use to me.
Do Have I been missold something? Have I got PPI? What's the best way to go about looking into this? Thanks

Yes you do, or no you don't. Sadly we are not privy to your previous financial past.

Google 'reclaim PPI money saving expert'

It is a long shot, but I think you may find something on the internet about it.

BowiesJumper · 02/07/2019 10:48

Did you have any credit cards, store cards or loans during the affected period, where you might have had any cover sold to you? Even if it was minimal?

I did on my egg credit card - it was around £3 a month charge which I cancelled when the PPI scandal first emerged about 8 years ago. I got about £950 back (refund, interest and compensation, minus tax) when I finally claimed earlier this year. And I did it direct with Barclays (who now own Egg) rather than use a PPI claim company.

I think you have until August to claim, so be quick if you think you do!

Fromdownwest- 2 things. Clearly, you're not privy to my personal info! Why would you even bother to write that? Was just a light hearted list of words I've heard on adverts, or a rhetorical question.
And 2 -well of course Google is my friend. Who doesn't know that?? But what would be the point of Mumsnet if I couldn't use it as an adjunct to Google, somewhere where I can get some more distilled advice from like-minded people?
Why so nasty?

Thanks Bowies, especially re: August deadline. I had an egg card many years ago.

It was not intended to be nasty - however after one google search I came up with a step by step guide on how to claim it back

Obviously forums are useful places, but when it takes as much time to write a post than it does to google the answer, it doesn't always make sense to do so.

lunicorn · 02/07/2019 12:24

Stop now fromdownwest. You were being nasty, and you still are.

I am not being nasty at all, I posted a link that will give all the answers that you need with a template to fill out and send to the companies involved?

Gazelda · 02/07/2019 17:09

OP, I don't think lunicorn was being nasty. You asked a question in a lighthearted tone. She/he replied similarly. Maybe you read the tone differently to how I did - that's the way that 'words on a screen' works. To be honest, I think you owe an apology.

But good luck with any claim you make, a windfall would be wonderful!

Gazelda · 02/07/2019 17:10

Bugger, I've mixed you two up! You know what I mean ......

SpideyMom · 03/07/2019 14:30

I dont see how @fromdownwest is being nasty at all. Just offering advice, in the same way most would.

Defo worth making a claim but mumsnet can only offer that advice, that It's worth a try

BowiesJumper · 03/07/2019 16:28

@lunicorn if you had an egg card, you may as well fill out the claim form on the barclays website and see. I couldn't remember any info - ie when I took the card out, any account details etc, all I knew was my address at the time and my name (obviously!) and that was enough for them to find all my info and rule in my favour.

theneverendinglaundry · 03/07/2019 19:53

OP, worth finding out. I had an egg card and an egg loan, and got £9000! My jaw dropped when the letter came through the post!

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/07/2019 19:08

There’s an online form on most lenders websites, I just filled them in and waited.
