Universal Credit with more than 2 children

Guest1233 · 01/07/2019 09:45

I have read on here that UC pay for a maximum of 2 children. But on their website they say they will pay for any amount of children that was born before april 2017.

Its really confusing, does anyone have an experience on UC with more than 2 children?

They have changed the rules, repeatedly.

So yes now they will pay for 3 children if you had them before the deadline.

I have 5 youngest all born before 2017 calculations is saying 1200 for children but this is the same as someone with 2 child however I am unsure of their full circumstances but know there is no disability

If you aren't sure this is right go to citizens advice or similar and get a full benefits check. It's really not helpful to compare to other people as you don't know their full circumstances.

You will never have the exact same situation as someone else.

Trying to compare is impossible.

I have done the calculator online, which is suggesting that amount. I have not claimed yet

Yes you can claim for child element for any children born before April 2017. After that it's a maximum of 2.

Thank you. @babyroobs. I am just feeling really scared and vulnerable about it all at the min.

If you have a citizens advice near you, then most of them have government funded projects running where they will help you claim UC and provide support until you receive your first payment. So it may be worth contacting them for help.

How would it work if children are born
2007. 2018 then 2020
I belive its just 2.

But we may be having dsd move in born 2011.how then does that work.. Not that it matters its her happiness that matters but was curious how it works.

haveuheard · 01/07/2019 20:18

You'd only get paid for 2 even if you actually house all 4, because only 2 of them were born before the cut off, unless you can claim certain pretty exceptional circumstances like rape. But you would still get CB, its just for UC and tax credits there is a 2 child limit.

HereForAdvice2019 · 01/07/2019 20:26

Yeah thought so
It's no. Issue and knew the expected one wouldn't be part of UC. But wasn't sure if the special circumstances of. Dsd having to move in would be different
But as said her happiness is far more important

Can never get in with them round here. I am ok with the forms and that I want to stay away from an advanced payment if I can. My partner works and will get paid weekly so we might fingers crossed be okish.

He job however have bouns paid every quarter and a Christmas bonus and its things like that that worry me. Or home working over time.

@HereForAdvice2019 dsd is a child of a person on the claim so there are no unique circumstances. If it was your granddaughter or niece for example then you would receive UC for three dc.
