Does anyone know if i will be entitled to any UC. I have used the calculator and it says i will be entitled to nothing. I know i would of received Child benefit/working tax before it was changed to UC.

I work full time. I will be a first time single mum in a few months. I own my own home. My work only pays basic maternity that only just covers my mortgage, insurances and council tax. I have been saving as much as i can whilst also buying the baby essentials.

Any advice would be good. Thanks

Which calculator are you using?

Babyroobs · 24/06/2019 17:46

I can do you a calculation but need to know your age, how much maternity pay you are likely to get and whether its smp or maternity allowance and your rent .

Hi @FedUpWhatsApp i used the Gov website. Im based in Wales. @Babyroobs I will get 6 weeks full pay 12 weeks 90% them smp. My wage is £25.000. I own my own house. And im 41.

I make 31000 but as I'm a single mum on SMP I qualify for UC until I go back to work

TT112 · 25/06/2019 10:32

@gtigti Thats all i would need it for. To help me get by whilst on SMP. Maybe im better off calling them up closer to the time to see what they say. Thanks

@TT112 I went the first day after my last full pay cheque and it was all sorted pretty quick. You need to book an appointment and make sure you ask them what you need to bring with you. Sort out your child benefit as soon as your baby is born, as this makes the UC application easier as they have this on record and can see the child lives with you. Mine was delayed because I wasn't claiming child benefit (didn't even know I could!). Good luck :)

Have you entered your details as though your baby has already been born

TT112 · 25/06/2019 11:20

@gtigti Thanks for the advice.

Yry entering again as though the circumstances of you just having had baby already apply

theworldistoosmall · 25/06/2019 11:42

Details as if you have had the baby.

Also be aware that if you have 2 paydays in a month, Universal credit will reduce/not pay. So you need to save to cover those months.
