We applied 3 weeks ago so have to wait till 3rd to see what they reckon we'll. Get. Then paid a week after.
I'm just trying to work out our bills etc as some will need to be pushed back this month for when we receive the payment which is fine they're not important ones

FWIW dp gets paid the last Fri of each month. We applied 3rd so they'll be no 2 pays within one assessment period. He gets paid to the penny the same figure each month. Nothing else as earnings for us I'm a sahm

Mine was 230 less than quoted on the calculator.

HereForAdvice2019 · 24/06/2019 09:45

And is that with no changed circumstances each month?

Mine was about 300 less than the calculator. I think it’s because it shows you theoretically what you could be entitled to but then they take deductions based on your wage.
Also be wary of the amount UC say you can take as an advance- this doesn’t indicate what you will be entitled to. They offered me an advance about 300 more than my entitlement too. I didn’t take the advance because I didn’t need it.

HereForAdvice2019 · 24/06/2019 09:50

I won't do an advanced. When we did the calculations we put in dps wage to the penny and it gave us a figure. As. I said this doesn't change at all each month.
Looks Like the calculator can be inaccurate so guess will have to wait.

You can earn up to £503 a month before they take deductions. After that the UC deducts 63p out of every £1 you earn. I found that was where my difference come from. No idea why the calculator didn’t work that out because I put my wage in to the penny. Fingers crossed the calculator is right for you!

OK. I find it all so confusing. CAB told us to use the Turn to US calculator and it was accurate give or take a few quid. It's been a long wait as had to obviously stop tax credit so its the crossover.

Does anyone know if i will be entitled to any UC. I have used the calculator and it says i will be entitled to nothing. I know i would of received Child benefit/working tax before it was changed to UC.

I work full time. I will be a first time single mum in a few months. I own my own home. My work only pays basic maternity that only just covers my mortgage, insurances and council tax.

Any advice would be good. Thanks

haveuheard · 24/06/2019 14:02

@TT112 did you use one of the calculators like entitled2? They are usually accurate but not in all cases so if you want to be sure book an appointment for a benefits check with local citizens advice if you have one.

For most people TC was more generous that UC though - and TC would have disregarded most of your maternity pay, which I dont think UC does.

Babyroobs · 24/06/2019 17:50

Mama - the £503 you are talking about is only for people with a mortgage or no housing costs. if you rent it is the first £287 that is disregarded before wages reduce your UC.

Babyroobs · 24/06/2019 17:51

I can work it out for you but need to know your wages, your childrens ages, net income, rent , whether any children have disabilities etc.

Babyroobs · 24/06/2019 17:52

SMP is treated the same as wages on UC and maternity allowance is deducted pound for pound from your Uc amount so people on MA miss out considerably as they don't get a work allowance unless they have a partner that works.

MyDcAreMarvel · 24/06/2019 17:54

Op why did You voluntarily stop tax credits?

windsorblue · 24/06/2019 18:27

Hi there are a couple of Facebook groups that can help with this think one is universal credit essentials, they show you how to work out yourself what you could be entitled to.

HereForAdvice2019 · 25/06/2019 10:23

Because we went for advice at cab for debts. And they said we'd be better with UC than TC. As we couldn't apply. For hb.
2e were getting 180 TC a very 4 weeks. . There calculator said for. UC with dp wage it would be 152 per week
So considerably more
Now I don't believe that would be that much but TC was just awful
Mainly because last Yr dp was also Self employed. So had to over estimate
Then he was at a loss a few yrs running so has now closed the business and just has his employment job. Rather than both jobs.
I had given up work half way through the Yr after maternity too
It was just one big hassle.

I have just put in a claim for u/c can any one work out how much we will get the advance payment was 797
We live in a 2 bed council house we are a couple both over the age of 25 and have no children
My partner works 30 hours a week at 10.69 per hour and is paid 4 weekly

Babyroobs · 22/02/2020 10:32

SRC1959 - If you are awarded any Uc you need to be careful as your partner is paid four weekly. People who are paid four weekly will have 13 pay days a year and there are only 12 monthly UC payments so there will be one month a year when two paydays will fall in your Uc assessment period which will wipe out any UC entitlement for that month. It is best to try to plan for when this will happen by .
