Childcare vouchers

I have around £500 in the childcare voucher scheme. Can I get I back at all?
I get that when i did the salary sacrifice there was a tax advantage, which is the whole point. But can I get it back out and pay the necessary tax on the remaining amount?

DD no longer needs wraparound care.
My work pay for 6 days of holdiay clubs, also I work from home a lot so DD can hang at home. So no holiday cover is really needed (she hates going as well).

I don't have any other children and dont intend to.

I'm not sure if the rules are the same for all voucher companies but the last time I checked you can't get them back. My provider is Care4

I got mine back. Just spoke to HR who sorted it with payroll. The tax was deducted and it was paid with my regular salary.

Just to add... the company wasn't keen to pay it direct to me, but no problem going through HR.

It will depend on the terms of the scheme and how long the money has been in there

Seniorschoolmum · 06/06/2019 01:38

I don’t think you can get it back as cash. Have you asked the provider?

My ds is the same age. In my area I can use vouchers to pay for swimming lessons, coding club and tennis club in the summer holidays. Have you looked at using them for those sorts of activities?

You can use them up to the age of 15 I think it is for other clubs like music lessons etc so long as the provider is registered.

I claimed back around £1800. I went via HR/Payroll who sorted it out for me, and it was paid into my next payslip and taxed appropriately.

To add to the above, my provider told me it was employer discretion, rather than a decision made by the providers.

Thanks going to chat with payroll.

Care4 is the provider so really hope they can sort it.
