PIL have a farm in the SE. Over the years I have built up a well respected glamping site, which now has full planning permission with 4 units, with an annual tunover of approx £50K a year, plus more for extras (firewood/courses/hampers etc) plus a 28 day campsite
The farm is not huge as farms go - its about 100 acres, of pretty poor soil for anything arable, so a mix of woodland and grazing. No stables, couple big agricultural barns, a holiday cottage I renovated and 2 that are part renovated.
I said that the work I had done building up the glampingsite had added value to the farm - in my mind the farm isnt really big enough for someone seriously into farming and doesnt really have the infrastructure, however it would be ideal for those with money looking for a lifestyle change, with hospitality being quite a popular option for those wanting an escape to the country.
DP says that the business wouldnt be of interest nor would it add any value to the farm because they probably wouldnt want to be bothered doing that.
