So me and my partner have a credit card and I've used it a few times on things like shopping but it's added up and I'm worried that he is going to find out, I mean I'm paying it off every month but I'm worried that he's going to find out :( any adviced on how to deal with it?

Much thanks

How much? How long til it is paid off? What did you use it for?

I would come clean as soon as possible - it will be a weight off your mind. However, I would also want to present a solution at the same time, show what I had been doing to pay it off and how long it would be til it was gone.

If you're paying it off every month, what's the issue?

It's sensible money management as you can earn cashback, makes it easier to hire a car, especially abroad, improves your credit rating, manages cashflow, and provides protection when something goes wrong, eg the supplier fails to deliver or goes out of business - look at all the worry about Thomas Cook at the moment, people who have paid by credit card will get help from their credit card if they do go out of business.

We put £1-2k per month on the credit card as we use it for all spending, but it's paid off every month and we earn about £100 per year cashback, plus all the other benefits mentioned above.

Why are you 'worried' - they are your partner, you are supposed to be able to share stresses and problems and receive help and support.

@emilyjayne5 how much debt are we talking here? And how much are you paying off each month?

Can't really comment without knowing more detail.

EleanorReally · 25/05/2019 07:49

Firstly, dont use it, dont use either of them. Get another job. Cut down on your spending.

Okay so I know it's not a lot compared to what it could be buts it's around £500!
I pay the minimum amount each month, maybe sometimes more.
I just worry because money has always been a issue, I've only just started working after having two years off to have our babies and I just hate lying.
Thank you all to getting back to me!
