Where to pay in change?

My dad has given me several bags of loose change, £50p, 20p and 10ps etc. There is about £300 easily I'd imagine. Where can I pay this in? The Coinstar machines take a percentage don't they?
Can I take them to the bank?

Most banks will accept coin, check online if your bank has a limit on the number of bags they'll accept. Also they'll need to be bagged correctly but they won't charge like a coinstar would.

Bank. But theyll only accept so much at any one time. So you may need to do a couple of trips

Some banks have machines that accept change the way that coinstar does.
Royal bank of Scotland in particular seems good for having them.

We used a coin-counting machine at a branch of Metro Bank, we're not customers, but it was all fine and no charges are made.
You chuck in all the change and it spits out a receipt which you then take to the counter to pay in or exchange for cash.
I think we found out about this from 'Money Supermarket' or an online forum.

Metro bank have cash counting machines, don't think they charge but I'm not 100% sure

Post Office will usually take it.

NatWest have coin counting machines. Not sure whether you need an account or not though.

I can take them to the bank, but it needs to be my own bank as they pay the money directly into your account. No limit on bags that I know of with my bank, but some banks limit you to 10 bags at a time.

Thanks so much! Will head to the bank then! :)
