Never posted before. Live on own and have some mental health issues. I've ran out of food literally and money doesn't come till Monday. Any idea's.

Small loan from friends or family, food voucher, crisis payment from LA, sell or pawn something, borrow from any children's savings, use any points on loyalty cards.

HollowTalk · 24/04/2019 11:57

See if you're eligible for a food bank, OP. Citizens' Advice or your GP can issue requests.

Chezzy427 · 24/04/2019 13:29

Thanks for reply. Unable to do that as no family. Food bank not eligible. Many thanks for reply though.

Can you find any change around the house bread is often 10p at closing time in supermarkets. Tesco jam is 28p. Boring but would be filling.

BricksInTheWall · 24/04/2019 13:35

Anything you can live without and sell on Facebook marketplace or gumtree to raise some quick cash? Sorry things are rubbish 🍷

DowntonCrabby · 24/04/2019 13:38

The food bank will be very unlikely to turn you away, even if you’ve used your limit of parcels. They will at least be able to point you in the right direction.

Decormad38 · 24/04/2019 13:38

Any clubcard vouchers?

Hello everyone,

We've had a number of reports from people concerned about this thread so, as we usually do in these circumstances, we're putting our heads round the door with some important reminders.

Right now we can't see any evidence to indicate that the OP isn't above board – if we did, we'd remove the thread straight away. But the truth is that, sadly, we at MNHQ can't know with 100% certainty that any poster is genuine, no matter who they are or how long they have been here. As frustrating as it is, we're not able to vouch for anyone here.

So we always ask users to remember that not everyone on the internet is who they say they are – and remind folk not to give more to another poster, either financially (in cash or gifts) or emotionally (in time or care and support) than they'd be prepared to lose if things went wrong. Though, we strongly advise against parting with any cash or giving away your personal details, and if you receive a PM which makes you uneasy - report it to us and we’ll take a look.

Sorry to hijack your thread briefly there, OP – we really hope you get it all sorted soon.

Can you ask a neighbour to lend you a fiver til Monday? If one of my neighbours asked for a small loan for a few days because they literally had nothing to eat, I wouldn't hesitate. I'd probably give you a bag of food as well. Do you have children? What about your MH support worker?

00100001 · 24/04/2019 15:28

ask your family for food/money.

DantesInferno · 24/04/2019 18:00

Can you ask a friend?

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 24/04/2019 18:08

Roughly what area do you live in? Maybe I could drop some food off if you're in my area

Schuyler · 24/04/2019 19:26

Why are you ineligible for th food bank, if you don’t mind me asking?

DavetheCat2001 · 24/04/2019 20:28

Have you got no food in at all?

DudeWheresMyCarSeat · 24/04/2019 20:43

Very vague post.

You've no food and ran out of money and wanting a parenting forum to give you ideas. Ideas for what? Ideas to get more money? Ideas to get more food without money? What ideas have you already exhausted before deciding to come on here and post? No point a bunch of strangers giving you ideas out of nowhere when we have absolutely no idea ourselves what would or wouldn't be feasible for you. So ... what have you already tried or was Mumsnet your first resort?
