Matched betting for clueless beginner...

Yes, I am that clueless beginner!

Been thinking about getting into MB for a little while. I don't really understand how it works tbh (although my husband does and he's tried to explain it to me a few times now Grin) but just a few things first if you all wouldn't mind answering...

How many sites are you signed up with? Is it the more the better or do you just stick to a couple?

Do the sites run a credit check? I'm hoping to be going for a mortgage at some point in the not too distant future so could do without a load of gambling sites flagging up Grin

Do you have to spend a lot of time doing it or just an hour here and there? Have you made enough from it to think it's worth it?

To answer your specific questions...

I'm currently signed up to over 30 sites. I didn't sign up all at once though, two or three a week whilst I built my bank up.

Ures, the sites do checks to verify your ID but these shouldn't show up on searches done by lenders. If you are applying for a mortgage I would also open a bank account specifically for matched betting otherwise you will have tons of debits/ credits from bookies appearing on your bank statement!

Join the Team Profit site (google it) - it's free and they have lots of guides and will walk you through your first sign ups.

I too have just started reading about matched betting. Am nervously trying to understand it. Op has your husband made much money from it so far?

DParse · 30/04/2019 22:08

Watching and hoping to learn, too!!

Mammajay · 30/04/2019 22:09

Me too. Op has your husband made any money?

Mammajay · 30/04/2019 22:09

Sorry double posted

I work FT and do bits and pieces so maybe an hour through the day. This week was exceptional as I did well on low risk casino but I made £307 profit
I started with the save the student guide and then moved to the Facebook group and odds monkey

DParse · 30/04/2019 22:14

I've dipped a toe in with sign-up offers and free basic trials with Profit Accumulator and Odds Monkey, but am terrified of casinos, @YesQueen. I can't afford to lose any money, and I'm sure this is what would happen...

YesQueen · 30/04/2019 22:22

@DParse I did all the sign ups first and the reloads and then started doing the weekend enhanced odds accas on sky (v easy!)
Then came Cheltenham which was fab and the grand national which nearly broke my brain Grin
I do things like sky casino daily offer of wager £10 for 5 free spins. Something like that I do on minimum spin value and it's positive expected value (which is why it's classed as low risk). So v v unlikely to lose the full £10. Some days I'm up £1/2/3, some days I'm down £1/2/3

Then I get one like the other day where it spun £140 Shock
I started casino by doing any free spins that didn't need you to use your own money. Now I wager £20-50 and think nothing of it. I guess it's like when you first start putting on lay bets and use £50 of liability - Cheltenham I had 1.5k liability used Blush

Mammajay · 30/04/2019 22:30

Yes queen does that mean you won £140? So far my gambling is the monthly premium bond!

YesQueen · 30/04/2019 23:00

@Mammajay yes Smile
This is my profit for the last few days (I track daily and subtract qualifying losses etc as they happen so this is pure profit)
