Hi,
I will ask on my journal if things become more likely to change on universal credit, but posting here to see if anyone has any experience.
My husband (currently working 40 hours a week at slightly above minimum wage) has been offered a job working more hours (summer especially will be long hours as will be in agricultural trade so making use of long days) for at least the same wage, possibly an extra £1 an hour. We are waiting to hear specifics, the job was supporting offered (as is often the case in this line of work/this area) by an acquaintance who knew DH was unhappy with his current job and looking for an other, the job offer is genuine (our landlord is good friends with the aquaintance) but because of the time/place the offer was made (at the yard while on a break at current job) DH was limited in being able to ask more in depth questions.
If DH takes this job, I will have to drop at least 1 if not both my shifts that I currently work at a local pub (not a huge amount of money, so he would more than equal it) due to no one being able to look after our 20 month old DS.
He will be starting preschool in September 2/3 mornings a week, and I have 2 job interviews lined up for work in September anyway..
However if we proceed now with DH job change/me dropping one/both shifts, will we be sanctioned by universal credit?
