Hello, I wonder if anyone can please advise me. I work for the NHS (10 years+ service). I am mid Band 3.
I would like to get an idea of how much I am likely to get in equalised payments over 9 months during my Maternity leave (I am still awaiting an answer from payroll Hmm). I get around £1299 take home pay per month. Please could someone who is has had this experience or good at maths work out what I am likely to get as equalised payments over 9 months.

By my rough calculations, I’d say around £1065 a month depending on deductions for pension, tax etc. I worked it out as £145.18 SMP x 31 weeks, full pay (£299 ish) for 8 weeks, half pay (£150 ish) for 18 weeks.

I’m NHS and for my last maternity leave I took the full year off and requested my maternity pay be split into 12 monthly payments. Was a bit less each month of course, but I had the security of knowing I would have a pay every month I was off. I then added the annual leave I’d accrued while on leave and tagged it onto the end so had a few weeks of full pay again before going back. Worked out nicely for me.

I am bottom of band 5,. I spread my mat pay over 11 months and get £1000, I think if you spread yours over 9 months it will be around the same as I only get a little more than you for take home normally.

If you do take average pay, your first two months will be low as SMP can't be averaged. As a rough guide you are having 4 months pay (approx 2 months full 4 months half) spread over 9 months so your OMP will be less than half of your normal pay each month. From months 3 - 9 you will get SMP on top though. If you're in the NHS pension scheme then your contributions will be based on the standard maternity payments, not what you are actually paid so this will further reduce your first two months also.
