I work 50 hours a week as a CM plus 14.5 at weekend, EU working time directive?

Would like some advice on this as I have been confronted about it at work, and would like to know what the rules are thanks

Not sure what the rules are but dh works 60 hrs a week - not overtime, but works shifts.

I have read that self employed are exempt, yes, but at my weekend job I am employed, so wondered how it worked as I cant find anything about it. And also who's responsibility is to be aware of the directive as I was maybe naively, unaware it existed and other people at my weekend job work full time plus part time at weekends, so I didnt see it as a problem. thanks again

If you choose to work S/E as well as employed - it's only the employed that counts for the EU directive

Anyone can 'opt out' from EWTD - it's that you can't be made/pushed/contractually obliged to work more. Do you want to keep working those hours? If yes - no problem.

As you are self employed during the week, the directive does not affect you. I don't think that these hours count as far as your employed job is concerned and you presumably can't work more than 48 hours in your employed job. Even if you did, you can sign an opt out.
