Hi,
I have received this in the post. I am absolutely gutted, I work 2 jobs to pay the bloody mortgage. The arrears will only be paid off when the house is sold.

Can any of you lovely people offer any advice?

Thanks

Can you tell us a bit more about the circumstances? Maybe it won't come to it or there might be other options

Mortgage and financial adviser here, how far in arrears are you?
How did the arrears happen?
Has the mortgage provider made any adjustments for your circumstances?

The law states that anyone in financial difficulties must be dealt with 'positively and sympathetically' - has this been the case?

I didn't know Shelter did things about mortgages - read this through than perhaps ring shelter & ask re your particular situation. How long have you had your mortgage? Do you have negative equity? Is the problem because of relationship breakdown or redundancy? What I do know is that you will have the same rights as someone made homeless who is in rentals - so if the worst happens you can apply to council for help with housing - please don't feel obliged to answer anything that makes you feel uncomfortable :) Its just that different answers/reasons can make a difference to how things turn out.

Hi, arrears are substantial. They have occurred as ny ex walked out and has not contributed to the mortgage since.
The mortgage company have sort of worked with me, but have never allowed me to reduce payments etc.
I have spoken to the council and have to go and see them next week
My oldest daughter is due to sit her A levels in May, just hope something is sorted by then
