Car insurance

I'm about to leave a job that comes with a company car, for one without, and I'm trying to work out what I can afford to do for my next car. Can anyone help with a couple of insurance questions please?

I'm in my early 30s and have been driving for around 10 years, but for the last 5 I've been on my company's policy rather than having one of my own. Within that 5 years I've had 2 bumps which were minor but deemed to be my fault Blush Before I started this job I had 5 years no claims bonus, but am I right in thinking that's gone now due to claiming on my company's insurance?

My second question is about car groups for insurance purposes - I know group 1 is the cheapest but is there a big difference between that and group 2, for example? My new commute is relatively long and mostly on a NSL dual carriageway so I'm willing to pay an extra fiver a month (but not an extra £50!) to have a slightly more reliable and powerful car rather than one intended for pootling around town at 20mph.

(Public transport is expensive and impractical enough for this commute not to be an option.)

Your no claims bonus will only keep if you reinsure yourself year after year so despite the accidents you will restart at 0 now.

Secondly you will be asked if you have had 'any accidents regardless of fault' so you will have to inform them but hopefully it won't cost you too much.

Some companies only ask for the past 3 years so when was they? If more than 3 years ago its worth getting multiple quotes from a 3 and a 5 year history company.

Not sure on car groups to be honest I would check for a car you like and run that reg through on the insurance quote so you can narrow down your options.

Remember to use a different email and generic details (same DOB, city) not your actual ones until you are ready to purchase :)

Thank you! I thought that was probably the case re no claims but I am a bit of an optimist and hoped I'd misunderstood!
