yeah im the same, we had dd2 and ds2 afterwards so he has it with them. not sure what the implications are with the older two

I'm alost positive that if he's named on the birth certificate and you subsequently got married then that does give him PR.

Depends when you had ds.If before 2003 I think he hasn't if after then he has.I know it's stupid but when they brought in law to give unmarried fathers rights they didn't think about the dads who were already without.
I only know this as my dp has in reality no rights unless we sign some kind of form even though we've been together all this time(14yrs almost)
If anything happened to me my parents have more rights to my dc's than he does in many ways. It's quite ridiculous as if people aren't all happy families can cause hell.We are lucky as my family and his are of the opinion that if anything did happen to one of us the other would look after the dc's

Yes but even if it was before 2003, I'm pretty sure if you later get married then he automatically gets PR then..Will search, I'm sure I read that.

Yes, I was right. If you get married that then gives him PR. From the government website:
Unmarried fathers can acquire parental responsibility for their children in several different ways, depending on when their children were born.

For children born before 1 December 2003, unmarried fathers can get parental responsibility by:

  • marrying the mother of their child or by obtaining a parental responsibility order from the court
  • registering a parental responsibility agreement with the court or by an application to court

For children born after 1 December 2003, the situation is different. Unmarried fathers can get parental responsibility by:

  • registering the child's birth jointly with the mother at the time of birth - this is now quite common and many parents choose to do this
  • re-registering the birth if you are the natural father
  • marrying the mother of their child or by obtaining a parental responsibility order from the court
  • registering with the court for parental responsibility

OT but I found out recently that if you subsequently marry your child's father you must reregister their birth, which i think is ridiculous.
