Hi.. I need any advice please!
I am pregnant and due in sept (2nd child, the first is 5yo).. and I don't know how I am going to afford the nursery fees! I can't afford to stay on maternity leave on statuary pay so I will be going back after 4 months, but panicking I cannot afford nursery! But I can't afford to not to work either! I'm stuck with no option
I have been silly with money and have a low and credit card paying off and mortgage! Anyone else had month problems? My parents cannot help this time as they did last time as they getting older.. I know it's silly having a baby when I can't afford it but we been trying so for so and I'd regret it if I put it off any longer.. any advice appreciated pls xx

OK - So do you know about tax free childcare? That essentially takes 20% off your nursery costs.

You need to sit down and work it all out, look for areas you can save on, work out how to pay credit cards off etc. Could you extend the term on the mortgage to lower the repayments for now etc.

Do u have a partner?

BluebadgenPIP · 18/03/2019 20:16

Where’s your partnerin all this?

"we"
You need to work together on this and share the costs
as it took two of you to create the baby

You may be able to get help with childcare costs through Universal credit if on a low income.

I took a mortgage break with each pregnancy. At the time we were paying £1k a month, so not paying that was a life saver. Could you do that ?

How come you've chose to have another child when you're already incapable of financially supporting yourself +1?

Yes, lots of 'I' in your post - is the father not on the scene?

If he is, can you work different hours to reduce the cost of childcare - eg you both work 4 days a week (one does M-Th and the other Tue to Fri) and you only need to pay for 3 days a week childcare.

Or can one of you work evenings and weekends if the other does normal office hours, even if it means one of you changes jobs?

YY to tax free childcare or vouchers from either employer.

Check your benefit entitlement as it may increase when you go from one DC to 2.
