Claiming Tax Credits as a Single Person

I was just after a bit of advice really!

I split from my stbxh in September 2017. I lived in to my own place in December of that same year. I've been claiming tax credits as a single person since then and do not rely on anyone else but myself for money.

My stbxh has made a claim with his new partner for tax credits.

Basically, I received a letter yesterday asking me to confirm I was still eligible to claim for tax credits as a single person. I'm not with anyone new, I see someone on and off but it's very sporadic and we most definitely are not in a committed relationship!

I haven't lived with my stbxh since we split, we are most definitely separated so I'm very confused as to why I received this letter.

Can anyone shed any light for me? Thanks in advance. Smile

Its a standard letter, they send it to everyone every now and again. If your circumstances haven't changed then ignore it.

As above, it's a "nudge theory" style letter, "are you sure you're still entitled?". Nothing to worry about and not based on any actual information about you.

Thank you for your replies! I just panicked a little as I do really rely on that money. Thanks for the reassurance.
