Hi,
I am currently looking at a job in a school. Can someone explain this school salary.
Job description says -
24 hours working term time (36+5 =41 weeks)
Salary: £14,250 Basic pa pro rata with uncapped commission OTE (£16K -£18) pro rata

I originally thought £14,250 would be salary but the more I read I think the salary stated would be full time. Can anyone help?

It sounds like that salary is based on a 52 weeks a year and 37.5 hours a week.

Jackshouse · 08/03/2019 22:30

That works out at 9K at the top end.

Boobiliboobiliboo · 08/03/2019 22:30

Actual basic salary is about £7190.

Jackshouse · 08/03/2019 22:35

That’s why I said 9K at the top end ie as of being paid 18K pro rota.

Calli21 · 08/03/2019 22:37

Yeah I think the salary mentioned would be pro rata. 😞

I agree it’s based on52 weeks 37.5 hours

However while you work 41 weeks you get paid 4 weeks holiday - so 45 weeks of the year

Boobiliboobiliboo · 08/03/2019 22:40

Given it says “pro rata” twice, it’s pretty clear.

What sort of job is it?

It’s 36 weeks working and 5 weeks holiday, isn’t it?

donquixotedelamancha · 08/03/2019 22:42

£14,250 / 52 x 41 = £11,235

donquixotedelamancha · 08/03/2019 22:44

More to the point WTF is going on with a commission based salary in a school?

Is it hunting for funding and you get a cut of what you pull in?

(Yes this really happens in state education. Yes this is part of why state education is fucked at the mo).

Shinesweetfreedom · 08/03/2019 22:48

OK 24 hours at 36 weeks plus 5 weeks holiday.
On the assumption that full time is 37 hours 52.142 weeks then
24 hours times 41 weeks is 984 hours compared to full time which is 1924 hours
So your salary would be 51 per cent of full time salary which is £7267.50.
This figure is dependant on those being the full time hours and weeks I have stated.

This was my original thought as it's school based but the pro rata made me think other wise. This is for a private school so reason for commission.

What is the commission part?? How are you earning commission?

Boobiliboobiliboo · 08/03/2019 22:52

£14,250 / 52 x 41 = £11,235

You haven’t accounted for the part time hours.

Calli21 · 08/03/2019 23:02

Commission is based on how many children sign up to the school. The role is to advertise the school and bring in as many admissions hence the bonus.
Think I need to clarify before I apply.
