Do you get a cost of living pay rise every year? Sorry if that's not the right terminology, for example local government employees will get 2% this year, the military's is yet to be decided etc. I'm assuming it's not a legal obligation but wonder if it's still widely done, or not.

No you don't, you do however have the opportunity to negotiate your own deal, which you pretty much don't in the public sector.

We do in my company.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 21/02/2019 17:43

No. Get a 1% pay rise every 3 years or so if we are lucky.

No
Where I work those on minimum wage ( which is most people) get a rise because it’s the law
I haven’t had a pay rise in over 2 years

Varying % depending on the pot available, your performance rating and where you are in your pay band. If you're at the top of the band you'll need to do something exceptional to get any extra money. I think this year was mostly 1%-2%.

Nope. Our managers get 2% a year to play with. So if my colleague gets 4% then someone else is getting 0.
