Can any one tell me what this means ?

My stake at coral is £5. My one at Betfair is £10 (I thought it was £5)

Whats the best outcome for me ?

Ajax to win in coral, Ajax to lose on Betfair

What are the odds?

KOKOagainandagain · 13/02/2019 15:54

Place another stake for £5 with Coral so that all your back bet is laid off?

Forthehellofit · 13/02/2019 15:55

Won't let me up load screen shots. Coral was 5/2 . Betfair says ' for £5 @ 3 liability £10

Are you using odds matcher to choose the event and special calculator to calculate stake at exchange?

TeenTimesTwo · 13/02/2019 16:01

I have no idea what that means. Grin

(Though I don't think you should do matched betting if you don't get how it works.)

Forthehellofit · 13/02/2019 16:01

Afraid not. rushed what I was doing ad toddler woke early from nap

I think you might be getting confused with factional and decimal odds so that you backed at 3.5 and layed off at 3.0. You really need to understand lay betting where liability is your stake. But liability (depending on odds) is more than actual stake. Try profitaccumulator for guide.

KOKOagainandagain · 13/02/2019 16:32

Me too. I started last month, about 3 weeks ago, and have made a profit of over £500 so far. Need to fund back bets and liability though so more making money from strategically shifting money as betting is not a factor. A lot of admin but good rate of return.

Due to caring responsibilities I can't work outside the home atm so it feels good to have something that is mine and to make some money out of an engaging hobby. Some women crochet, some matched bet Smile

Sukochicha · 13/02/2019 16:41

Is this a bet a free bet or a trigger bet with your own money?

TheInvestigator · 13/02/2019 16:44

It sounds like you don't know what you're doing.

Stop. Go to profit accumulator and watch all the videos. Then watch them again, andbuse the guides!

Forthehellofit · 13/02/2019 17:15

Right got onto coral it says the odds (in decimal) is 3.50 . With a £5.00 stake estimated return is £17.50

If you bet on Coral for Ajax to win then you lay a bet on Betfair for Ajax to loose . If it’s a free bet use one of the calculator and Make sure it’s set to SNR ( stake not returned ) . Commission is 5% on Betfair so adjust it if it’s nit automatic. The calculator will calculate your lay bet which should be slightly less then your back bet . The liability is how much you need in the exchange ie Betfair to match the bet . HTH

Purpletigers · 13/02/2019 19:40

Find out the odds for both outcomes before you place your back bet

Fortheloveofscience · 13/02/2019 19:48

Purpletigers I’m not certain that’s right, I’ve not done matched betting for years but back when I did the idea was that you’d bet and lay the same outcome (eg Ajax to win) because laying for Ajax to win means you’ll pay out if they do, and you’ll also get the money in at the bookie because you bet on that outcome.

If you bet for Ajax to win, and lay for Ajax to lose then if they lose you’re exposed at the exchange with nothing coming in at the bookie.

Whisky2014 · 13/02/2019 19:50

Youre not doing it right. Read up before doing any more

titchy · 13/02/2019 20:02

If you back Ajax at Coral you lay Ajax at Betfair (pink box). Use the calculator - make sure it's set to free bet rather than trigger bet - it sounds like you left it at trigger for that liability.

xyzandabc · 13/02/2019 20:07

If you bet to win at coral, you need to lay against the win at Betfair.

If you bet to win at coral and then bet to lose at Betfair, if it's a draw, you will lose at both coral and Betfair.

forthehellofit · 13/02/2019 20:21

@xyzandabc so how do you make sure you don't lose in the event of a draw?

OP posts:
Purpletigers · 13/02/2019 20:22

There’s a Team profit website which is fantastic and a team profit Newbie Facebook page .

Purpletigers · 13/02/2019 20:23

Oops I typed lose when I meant win

Purpletigers · 13/02/2019 20:24

Forthe hell of it . It’s either win or lose/ draw

Purpletigers · 13/02/2019 20:25

You need to do a lot of reading before you make your first bets .

titchy · 13/02/2019 20:27

so how do you make sure you don't lose in the event of a draw?

Lay the win. That's what 'lay' means - it pays on any result other than the one you layed.
