Please help with my washing machine problem....(a long & dull one)

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes anyway...

I purchased a new Hoover washing machine earlier this year, we had loads of problems and loads of engineer visits. Finally I lost my temper and contacted the store we purchased from and demanded a replacement machine, which they arranged for us to be given.

Well the new machine has broken again too and we have already had 2 engineer visits for this one. I am really fed up; my new baby is due in 4 weeks and I have a 2 yr old in washable nappies - it is a nightmare to be without a machine as you can imagine!

The GIAS service who deal with after sales are really unhelpful when I call and will only arrange another engineer visit when I call to tell them about this fault.

I just do not know what my options are now - who do I speak to...Hoover or the place we purchased from? I have sort of lost faith in the machine (although it is fab when actually works) we need something more reliable IYKWIM.

Does anyone have any advice?

(Apologies for the long and dull post )

Your contract is with the store you bought ot from. You need to give them a chance to fix it - which you have - but at this stage I would be asking for a replacement (not a Hoover) under the sale of goods act. You have been sold something which is unfit for purpose. You could do what my friend did when she was getting nowhere with her washing machine supplier. She drove to the shop with her two toddlers and piles of dirty washing and refused to move until they sorted the situation. They very quickly gave her a new machine. Taking some of your dirty nappies down to the store might make them act before your baby is born.

We used to have a Hoover fridge-freezer, we had no end of problems with it and in the end it was replaced. We couldn't stand the sight of thing after all the problems the last one had given us so gave it away to a friend who was quite hard-up and was desperate for a new fridge, we did explain that it may be unreliable but she was very grateful for it anyway, it lasted fine for her.

As they've replaced your machine already I would be trying MrsMuddle's suggestion of trying to get a different brand from the shop.

All the best!
