DWP Compliance Interview

childrenwithneeds · 23/01/2019 14:47

I receive Carers Allowance for my DD. I've received in the post a letter calling me in for a meeting with DWP in a couple of weeks time to 'talk about changes which may affect my benefits'. I have to take so much proof with me, I'm so nervous already.

I have to take bank statements, pay slips, savings statements, premium bond savings, ISA details etc. And I have to take details of my husband too

I have maybe £500 in savings in total, but nothing compared to the size of my overdraft....

I'm a nervous wreck already that I'm physically shaking....

Has anyone ever had to go in for a meeting before....?

Has anything changed recently? Have you started working or earning more? Are you claiming other benefits or is it specifically for carers allowance?

Are you claiming as a lone parent? Any boyfriend staying over - this is usually the cause of such interviews.

No change...

I'm a special guardian of my DD and get an allowance, but on Carers Allowance it says not to earn over certain amount after tax and expenses which I certainly don't.

Am really worried - hardly slept last night and still got 2 weeks to wait till the interview.

I had one a couple of years ago, they just didnt have enough documentation on file for me. Dont worry, put all evidence they have asked for in order, it really is just a box ticking exercise.

So after weeks of sleepless nights, worrying and overthinking, I had my compliance interview.

Basically, their systems use a 'General Matching System' and last year I did a few days overseeing exams and therefore the systems flagged up I was working from February through to end of July, however they were the dates I was 'employed' for but not actually worked. I only earned £400 for the whole period and worked a few hours over several days over several weeks, therefore feel below the threshold.

As I could prove all of this, no further action and case closed.

Thanks for all your help. X

It is merely a box ticking exercise. Pretty much like the DLA forms.
