... use your house insurance, public laibility cover. The 2 insurnance companies can then slug it out!

lissie · 07/07/2007 20:16

thank you all so much for this info. have shown the thread to my stepmum and she is going to refuse to pay it.

Hello Lissie, it's Francesca here from the Saga press office. Am very sorry to hear about your experience, it certainly doesn't sound right at all. If you'd like to drop me an email on [email protected] with your number, I'll happily give you a buzz and we can get to the bottom of what's happened here.

ghostyCLAIRE · 09/07/2007 12:02

Brilliant

ELF1981 · 09/07/2007 12:14

OMG the cheek of some people!

DO NOT pay.

edam · 09/07/2007 12:18

Saga Press Office are either very on the ball or we've discovered a MNers day job...but hurrah for Francesca, sounds v. positive.

saltire · 09/07/2007 12:25

Yes but don't go giving out any of yours or your dads personal bank details will you. Someone from Lansons.com posted on my paypal thread recnetly saying he was from the paypal press office and I should contact him.
I think they watch mumsnet

SaintGeorge · 09/07/2007 14:03

Think they might be genuine though still be careful. Their website does have Saga listed as a client.

SagaPressOffice · 09/07/2007 14:34

Hello all - yes indeed, we are genuine! We represent both Saga and PayPal and are keen that your concerns are dealt with quickly and efficiently. I wouldn't dream of asking you for any bank details, just that we collect enough information from you to discover what's actually happened here.

lissie · 09/07/2007 18:42

thanks francesca, i will pass your details onto my dad. really appreciate your help in this matter.

lissie · 09/07/2007 18:47

is that you cod?

SoupDragon · 09/07/2007 18:49

Whilst I think it's heavy handed approaching a 10 year old like this, I'd be seriously p-ed off if I had to pay for damage (through the excess or lost NCD) caused by someone else to my car be they adult or child.

SoupDragon · 09/07/2007 18:50

and I also think DominicConnor speaks a load of b*llocks.

CodinaKag · 09/07/2007 18:50

NO NO ITS BONE FIDE

Berries · 11/07/2007 17:06

Actually, I think the parents are responsible if their child causes damage whilst out unsupervised. If they had kicked a football through a window surely you would expect the parents to pay? I'm not sure why it should be any different when it's a car.

lissie · 12/07/2007 12:01

thanks everyone, spoke to francesca and the upshot is that my dad will use his house insurance to pay for it (it was the way saga handled it that was the problem) and db will get a hamper of sweets.
