I get paid next Tuesday, got literally £2.59 in my purse and half a tank of petrol, January has been horrendous with car repairs and several birthdays to pay for, however every month SOMETHING seems to happen to tip us over financial edge. Me and OH both work and get a reasonable income, we don't have a huge mortgage and DC of age when no childcare costs anymore, but still it never seems to get much better Sad. Sometimes I feel I will never be a fully functioning adult with savings, ISAs and the like despite being nearly 50! Anyone else?

Grinch at least Feb is a short short month this year!

BlueKarou · 01/02/2019 12:12

Thank goodness for the shortness of Feb.

Payday came yesterday, and all the bills are out today. So quickly it goes. Some big birthdays this month, but at least the soon to be 3yo doesn't know what is expensive and what isn't!

March is my recovery month.

Oh goodness yes.
I was down to £9 and 50 miles in car.

January of course is such a hard month.
I think this year in among all my various small saving pots I will do a January one and try and have some money especially to get through January. Even 50 for emergency petrol!!

OP, I understand you so well! I have the same financial troubles, even despite that fact that I have a good job with a rather high salary. I work so hard and I want to enjoy with my money, to spend them on my own needs and wishes but I can't do that because almost every month I feel the lack of them :((
I spend the most of all for my rent payment, food and my car. Also various repairs because my house is old and I need to replace furniture, gadgets and make a lot of other stuff which is very expensive together!! I even needed to apply for a payday loan paydayloan.network/short-terms-loans.html for replacing my old laptop because it was a very urgent need for me and my old one stopped to work at all.
And yeah, holidays and gifts for my relatives and friends demand much money too...
I also have some debts to my family and friends because I needed to borrow money several months ago when I had problems with my job. When all these things finish, I really don't know...
However I admit that maybe I'm not good in general for controlling my budget www.businessinsider.com/5-signs-your-spending-is-getting-out-of-control-2015-8 .
