URGENT HELP NEEDED - INSURANCE

I am a mum of four and single. There was a massive leak in my flat today. Carpets got flooded, so had my friend take it all off. Underneath the carpet, there is chipboard. I dried it, but it does look bad and probably needs replacing. My home owner’s insurance say they do not cover chipboard (they will replace the carpet), and my apartment management company says chipboard (or anything underneath the carpet) is not covered. What do I do now? any help, please!??

When you say home owners insurance what do you mean? Contents insurance?
What policy is the management company referring to? The chipboard should be covered under either a contents policy (yours) or buildings insurance (taken out by freeholder). If excluded under both then you'll have to pay but I would expect it to be covered under the buildings policy . I would ask the management co for a copy of the buildings policy and ask them to point out the relevant clause which says chip board is not covered.

If the chipboard is dry though and only looks bad does it def need to be replaced?

I would also ask your contents insurers to identify wording which says chip board isn't covered and have a look at the policy wording to see if they are right. They've agreed to pay the bulk of your claim (the cost of new carpets) so they will have a dialogue with you and you could also discuss with whoever they send round to look at damage / replace carpets. What purpose does the chipboard serve? Insurers might fund the cost of an under layer instead.
