Mortgage rate switch

We are coming to the end of our fixed rate mortgage in early March and want to fix it again.
Do you think that Brexit will have an impact on mortgage rates?

We're actually 3 years into a 5 year deal and got in touch with London and Country, who did our last 5 mortgages, and asked them to look at a new deal for us taking into account early redemption fees in order to ensure we took advantage of the current low interest rates.

We're currently on 3.5% and can move to Nationwide for 2.19% and also shave off 5 years and our payments only increase by £250 a month which is doable for us. Gives us peace of mind for the next 5 years as no way of knowing what is going to happen.

If your rate is ending March, get in touch with L&C now as the quote is good for 90 days and you can tel them the date you want the switch to happen. That's what we are doing as the early redemption fee reduces 31 March for us so 1 April will be our date.

Yes I think brexit will have an impact - the economic uncertainty is likely to make interest rates rise in my view

I can't see interest rates going anywhere too high too soon (though if all goes well interest rates do need to increase), my immediate concern is the housing market and if my house loses value the impact that'll have on our LTV and thus interest rate. Our deal is up in April but we are sorting this month as a pp says offers last 3 months. My problem is we are keen to move before 5 years so may have to do a 2 year which doesn't feel as safe!!
